Forever Devoted to Cyrus
![]()
We want you to meet Cyrus. He was one of our
heavenly puppies. We say that because
raising these little bundles of joy is like a gift from heaven.
When we raise a litter of pups, all our time revolves around
them. We have sleepless nights, tears, laughter, heartache and much more
invested in our puppies. We love them with everything we have. One of the
hardest things is when it is time to say goodbye to them. We communicate with
our buyers and ask questions and try to get to know them. We want
to place
our puppies
in
the right homes
where
they will be very loved as a member of the family.
We also tell our buyers they can contact us
at anytime for any reason because our
puppies' welfare is most important to us.
We try not to intrude in
anyone's
life, but we love when buyers include us in their new family. It makes us very
happy to see the love and joy that flows
between a dog and his owners.
This is why we have devoted this page
to Cyrus and his new owners. We were very saddened at his tragic story but so
happy that he is in a loving family now. His story will show you that no matter
how much you think you know and trust someone, you can be so wrong. I am sorry
that Cyrus had to suffer because of Jane's lack of compassion, cruelty, and
lies. Here is his story:
Cyrus stayed with us a bit longer than his siblings, which was fine with us.
It just meant that either God wanted
Cyrus to stay with us or he just hadn't found the right home for him.
We didn't mind at all because Cyrus
was a very sweet, loving puppy. He loved people and would follow us
everywhere. One of his favorite things to do was
go for rides in the blazer. He would always lay right
behind the front seats with his paws on the middle
console, keeping his head up to look out the window.
Sometimes, he would lay his head on your shoulder.
He was just one of the sweetest dogs we ever had the pleasure to
love. Well, the day finally came when someone asked for Cyrus.
It was Jane Doe, a long time friend of ours
(her name has been changed due to possible legal actions).
She always loved my dogs and was great to them.
She lived with her boss and they had just rented a new house
and were allowed to have a dog. We discussed Cyrus's
care and other things that were pertinent to her becoming Cyrus's
owner. In the end, she seemed like she would
give Cyrus
a great home!
The
day came when she took Cyrus home. She lived a couple
of hours
away from me,
but we talked on the telephone
once in a while.
It seemed like Cyrus
was loved and had a good home. One day, a new boyfriend
of Jane's stepped into the picture, and
things seemed to go wrong from then on. She moved out of the house
all of a sudden. When I asked
her about
Cyrus, she told me that he was with her boss and his family at
their second home in southern Minnesota. Without being
able to contact the boss and his family, I started calling Jane
a lot because
I felt that something was wrong. A few months went by where we felt helpless because we didn't know
where Cyrus was or if he was okay and felt our friend was lying to us.
Finally, one day we got a phone
call from
another couple, Jason & Danette,
who said Cyrus was with them. They were
searching for us, but didn't know how to contact us. The landlord of the house
where Cyrus used to live called them. Jane moved out a few weeks before the
landlord found Cyrus in the house on December 1, and she never came back to the
house to take care of him. The landlord went into the house to clear out
anything she had left behind. He found Cyrus sitting in his crate in his own
feces and urine, covered in it, with no food or water. Cyrus was scared and
wouldn't let him near his crate. Not knowing what to do, the landlord called
Jason. Jason used to work with Jane and knew Cyrus. Jason & Danette went
in and
rescued Cyrus and took Cyrus with all his newly formed problems home. Cyrus
weighed 58 lbs when they got him home. He was at least 25-30 lbs under weight.
He was also very aggressive with his food and literally attacked it because he
was so starved. Another problem that he had now developed was severe anxiety
when left alone. Danette took several days off from work to stay with Cyrus and
help him through the initial recovery process. Cyrus became very clingy towards
her but was still leery of Jason. Jason worked hard on earning Cyrus's trust
and gave him all the room he needed.
They have since adopted Cyrus with our
blessing. Cyrus had developed several problems
from being abandoned and neglected
but is now doing very well in his new home.
We were so excited when
we got to go visit with Jason, Danette, and Cyrus about a month after they first
called us. Watching him with his new parents, it is
evident how much he truly adores them.
Now, he
is constantly being
spoiled, fed, and loved. He is steadily gaining
weight,
although he has a ways to go to get back his
muscle tone and the great coat he
had
before he suffered from starvation. His food aggression has
lessened, but
he still has some anxiety when left
alone. Cyrus gets to go to work with them some days and
when he can't,
he goes to doggie
daycare where he is also loved. Cyrus also loves his toys and likes to go for
swims in the river near his home. He loves to sleep in bed with them. He just
wants to be with them constantly. Through it all,
Cyrus has remained sweet and loving but he would protect his new family with his
life. He is now happy again, and now it seems his life just gets
better and better. I suspect Cyrus will
forever love and repay
Jason & Danette for their kindness and love. I know that there is nothing we
can ever do to repay them for saving Cyrus's life, but
we hope they know that Cyrus and
them will be in our hearts and minds forever!
And Jason and Danette
are truly two of the most special, loving people we have been honored to meet.
Well, that is Cyrus's story. We
would like to thank you for taking the time to read it.
And we also want you to understand why all puppies leaving our heaven will now
be microchipped. It will ensure a puppy's safety if
a puppy were lost, stolen, neglected, etc. Microchipping is a
safety measure that is fast gaining popularity, and one
we are giving your puppy and you. With it, we stand a
better chance of helping you get your puppy back if something happened to
him/her. And, if you know of any animal in jeopardy, abusive
situations, etc., please call the law enforcement centers so that they can help
the animal and try and stop the abuse. The animals can't speak or protect
themselves from cruel people; they depend on us for that. The animals always
give us unconditional love. Let's repay their love by reporting any abuse so
that the abusers can be prosecuted and punished, and stopped from such cruelty.
Cyrus almost died. No animal deserves to suffer in that way. Thanks again for taking the time to follow Cyrus on his
journey, and have a great day!

Abuse and
Neglect
author unknown
I will never know what I did to deserve such an awful life full of abuse and neglect. My life had become so sad and lonely it was like living in an endless, dark tunnel. I remember looking up one day and seeing a bright light shining at the end of the tunnel. The light was so bright I thought that God must have sent an angel to finally end my suffering. God did send an angel, he sent you. The bright light I had seen was your smiling face. You promised me that my days of neglect and abuse were over. My battered body and broken spirit hardly dared to believe it was true. You opened your heart and your home and gave me more love and comfort and safety than I had ever known before. You gave me the softest bed my tired, aching bones had ever felt and more toys and attention than I had ever dreamed existed. I no longer cringed when a hand was
raised near me, because your hands had only I no longer feared the sound of feet approaching, because your feet had never kicked me, they had only taken me on wonderful adventures to exciting new places. You made my spirits soar and helped my soul find peace and contentment. From the day I met you, I never suffered again.
