Ace Update

Please be very watchful and careful with your dogs.  Dog thefts seem to be on the rise these days.  More and more dogs are stolen everyday and we can only guess as to what happens to them.  Different breeds are stolen for different reasons.  Stolen Dobermans more than likely end up in the wrong hands such as with Ace.  People may use them for "protection" or breeding for that quick buck or even dog fighting.  Ace was taken by people doing/dealing drugs.  He was chained up in a backyard to 'guard' and when he wasn't there he was thrown in a dark basement which is where the cops found him.  We hope that no other dogs endure what Ace did so please be aware that dog theft is growing all the time.

Ace had been stolen out of his yard in November 2004. In late April 2005, during a raid at a home, police confiscated him & he is safe at his real home once again. Ace was very underweight & I am positive if he hadn't been found, in a couple of months he would have been lost for good. Ace's owner rushed to see him while he was in custody. He was very scared and would not come out of the kennel. He finally ended up in her lap. I think good memories started to come back to Ace then as his tail started to wag. Ace remembers everything he learned before he was stolen. He sits, lays, turns, rolls over & plays dead. He is still a tiny bit skittish but very sweet & loving.

UPDATE!!   October 2005
Ace has been recovering well.  He has gained weight and is starting to get back his muscle tone.  His bones and ribs no longer show like they once did. He is looking good for his young age.  He also seems to have lost the slight skittishness he had after first returning home.  Ace spent his summer with his owner reconnecting and learning how to be the dog he was meant to be.  He spent his time at the lake playing and fishing.  He returned to taking his daily walks which he loves.  He just enjoys being a dog and loves seeing people.  It is amazing to see the love dogs can retain for people even when treated so badly by someone.  We are very happy for Ace and his owner and we wish them the best.
