The dobe has always fascinated
me. They look so beautiful and noble and are extremely smart. We got our
first dobe over nine years ago and we became hooked. They are like potato chips, you
can't have just one...lol. We now own 5 dobermans.
Each one of our dobes has their own separate personality and sense of humor.
Although our dobes might not be angels all the time, we wouldn't trade them for
the world. I have done hours of research and chose each of our dobes very
carefully. Each one has great attributes that compliment the breed.
I have always enjoyed watching dog shows and stuff but had
never participated. A few years ago, a friend talked me into
bringing our dobes to the county fair and 2 of them got second place reserve
champion ribbons. So then the bug had bitten me and even my hubby. We then
joined an agility class. My oldest female loved it. One day I was talked into
running her on a small course off leash and she had so much fun that she kept
running the course by herself. (LOL, I had to catch her to stop her). Even if we
never make it into a real show ring or win anymore ribbons, I will take pride in
the fact that my dogs enjoyed themselves. There is one thing I would like to
accomplish with our dogs though. I would like to show people around here that dobes are not "mean dogs". They are actually some of the sweetest, most loving
dogs I know. Dobes are usually called "Velcro dogs". It doesn't matter what you
are doing, they just want to be with you.
Above all else, we love our dogs. They are loving pets and
companions. They are our babies. (Those that know me well call them my kids).
Breeding and showing are extensions of loving the breed. Our goal is to produce
a great loving pet, that is as close to breed standards as possible, and a
companion that will give you as much joy as we have had from our dogs.
